I had been searching in the North Valley and Corrales, even a little in Santa Fe, and I feel like Placitas was the perfect blend of the characteristics that I liked most about each of those communities, and others too. The natural beauty and scenery are endless. Neon sunsets do exist! Placitas has always existed as a rural community on the outskirts of ABQ, with a rural look and feel to it. It's also incredibly convenient. Placitas is 10min north of ABQ or within 30 minutes, you can get to Santa Fe, the ABQ Airport, lots of different grocery stores and daily conveniences, and to most of the areas major employers. The homes are all custom and they tend to blend with the natural landscape, and most developments have been mindful of resources, and many with unique details and an artistic flare. My grandparents were charmed at the idea to bring their newly formed family to the Land of Enchantment. They moved here and were part of the first 1000 people to move to Rio Rancho. While that was over 50 years ago and little of the town they moved into still remains. We have seen Rio Rancho grow into a city of over 100 thousand with one of the best school districts in the state of New Mexico. I can attest that this is one of the safest cities as well, as my father worked and retired from the local police force after living here his whole life. And while there are things we could improve such as better public transportation and access to the main highways. We wouldn’t live anywhere else. Rio Rancho continues to be the city of Vision.... Something I really liked about growing up here is that it is small enough where I know people in many social and acedemic circ*mstances or know someone who knows them. However, it is big enough where I do not see someone I know when I am going to the gym or going shopping. There are many new neighborhoods, resteraunts and activities as Albuquerque continues to grow, allowing for many new experiences. Something I would like to see improve is the educational system. It places a lot of emphasis on punishing behavoir they see as hindering childrens educational experience. I would like to see more positive renforsment and accecible support put in place instead....
