Dante[edit | edit source]
Styles[edit | edit source]
Dante has 6 Styles available that give him a variety of attacks which are used with . Only one Style can be equipped at a time, and you can only switch Styles between missions or at a Divinity Statue.
Trickster[edit | edit source]
This Style grants Dante some extra maneuverability.
- Dash: Press + when on the ground for a quick dash. This can be used to evade enemy attacks.
- Wall Hike: Press when running towards a wall to run straight up the wall and backflip off it. Or you can run along the wall and then leap off it.
- Sky Star: Press in midair for an air dash.
- Air Trick: Press + forward on + to teleport towards a targeted enemy.
Gunslinger[edit | edit source]
This Style grants Dante some extra attacks for use with his ranged weapons.
Swordmaster[edit | edit source]
This Style grants Dante some extra attacks for use with his Devil Arms.
Royalguard[edit | edit source]
This Style grants Dante some extra defensive maneuvers.
- Block and Charge: Press while on the ground. This reduces damage from enemy attacks, and uses the energy from the blocked attack to charge the Royal Gauge. This can be performed in the air.
- Just Parry: Press just as an enemy attacks. This acts like a regular Block, but it grants more energy for the Royal Gauge.
- Release: Press + forward on +. Releases the energy stored in the Royal Gauge for an explosive attack. This can be performed in the air.
- Just Release: Press + forward on + just as an enemy attacks. Releases the energy stored in the Royal Gauge for a more powerful explosive attack. This can be performed in the air.
- Ultimate: Press + back on + to create a shield in front of Dante. It can deflect weak attacks and convert their energy into health.
Quicksilver[edit | edit source]
- Time Lag: Press + to slow down time, allowing Dante to move extremely fast.
Doppelganger[edit | edit source]
- After-Image: Press + to create a shadowy double of Dante which mimics his movements. While it's active, a second player can press on the second controller and take control of the shadow double, thus enabling two-player co-op play.
Guns[edit | edit source]
Dante can have up to two guns equipped at a time (Ebony & Ivory count as one). You can switch between them by pressing . You can only change your equipped guns between missions or at a Divinity Statue.

Devil Arms[edit | edit source]
Dante can have up to two Devil Arms equipped at a time (Agni & Rudra count as one). You can switch between them by pressing . You can only change your equipped Devil Arms between missions or at a Divinity Statue.
Rebellion[edit | edit source]
Dante's default sword, which is available from the start of the game.
- Combo I: Press three times.
- Combo II: Press , slight pause, then twice.
- Stinger: Press + forward on +. Dante dashes towards an enemy and stabs them.
- High Time: Press + back on +. Dante delivers an uppercut that launches the target into the air. Hold when performing this move to jump into the air after them, so you can follow up with Aerial Rave and/or Helm Breaker.
- Million Stab: Rapidly tap right after a Combo II or a Stinger. Dante delivers a flurry of lightning-fast stab attacks.
- Helm Breaker: Press in midair. Dante drops straight down with a powerful vertical slash.
- Drive: Hold and release. Dante launches a wave projectile straight ahead.
- Air Hike: This is a double-jump. Press in midair.
- Swordmaster Style moves
- Prop: Press . Dante holds up Rebellion and spins it around.
- Shredder: Repeatedly tap right after a Prop. Dante holds out Rebellion and continues spinning it.
- Aerial Rave: Press four times in midair for a midair sword combo.
- Sword Pierce: Press + forward on +. Dante throws Rebellion at an enemy, impaling it. After doing this, pressing performs kicks. You could also switch to a different weapon while Rebellion is out of Dante's hands. Press again to summon Rebellion back.
- Dance Macabre: Press + back on and rapidly tap . Dante dashes towards an enemy and delivers a rapid series of slashes, ending with a Million Stab.
- Crazy Dance: Continue tapping during Dance Macabre, and Dante follows it up by stabbing Rebellion into the ground and spinning around on it, kicking all enemies around him.

Vergil[edit | edit source]
Note: Vergil is only playable in the Special Edition of the game. His arsenal is much smaller than Dante's, but he starts the game with all his weapons and can carry them all at once. You can use and to cycle back and forth through his Devil Arms, since he's only got one ranged weapon.
Yamato[edit | edit source]
This is a katana with great range, and is his second most powerful weapon.
Beowulf[edit | edit source]
A suit of armor, which has the shortest range and the most power.
Force Edge[edit | edit source]
A sword which grants some moves that are very similar to Dante's Rebellion moves. Vergil will dual-wield it with Yamato for some of its attacks.
Summoned Swords[edit | edit source]
This is Vergil's only ranged weapon.
Dark Slayer[edit | edit source]
This is Vergil's only Style.
